The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens has been developed specifically for Canon’s range of cropped sensor digital SLRs. Taking into account the 1.6x field of view crop factor, this lens delivers an effective focal length range of approximately 16-35mm in 35mm format. This ultra-wide angle zoom is favoured by landscape photographers and those wanting a wider perspective on subjects. Image quality is excellent thanks to Canon’s technology and resultant images sharp.

I love to use it when there’s a lot fit in and I just don’t have the necessary working space to use longer focal lengths. It’s also great for bringing a different perspective to whatever I’m taking photographs of.
The build quality is solid and autofocussing is fast thanks to USM. There’s no image stabilisation built in, but I’ve never felt it a necessary feature at the sorts of focal lengths covered by this lens.
Due to the wide focal length, you need to be aware of any vignetting caused by using filters. This isn’t always noticeable in the viewfinder so it’s important to review any shots using screw filters.
I take this lens with me whenever I go on a shoot. An essential lens for any owner of a Canon cropped sensor body.
