It's fast, with a constant f/2.8 and the IS makes it great for hand-held, no flash photography in low-light conditions. The image quality is superb too. USM autofocus is fast and accurate and the IS works as expected. The only gripes I would have with this lens is the build quality. There are many reports of dust getting inside the lens and the zoom ring isn't as smooth as on a fully-fledge L lens. It's not the cheapest lens in this focal length range, but then you do get what you pay for. Overall, an excellent all-rounder lens that delivers top-notch performance.
