I've found this flash an excellent all-round performer giving well-lit photos. It's great for fill-in flash, great for lighting up the room and great for bouncing.

Pros:
- powerful and relatively compact compared to the larger 580EX
- ETTL and automatic zoom matches focal length of lens
- great battery life
- auto standby mode to save power

Cons:
- menu-driven controls can be slower to operate than mechanical controls
- no PC jack connection
- Flash head doesn't swivel 180-degrees in both directions.
